The way of kings crossed
cold magic, the Magician.
In the forests of the Night
the Candidates matched
the power of six new moons,
the watchers breaking dawn.
so I thought I'd try creating a poem from some titles of books on my bookshelves. This is just a start. I might keep working on it and see how long and how many titles I can include in it. I think the only rules I'll keep is that I can only add conjunction words and (s) or (ed) at the ends of words to make them work. I think I'll randomly capitalize some of the words that are actually capitalized in titles to break up the fluency of it so it stands out more that those were once capitalized.

Teenage Freedom
The long nights of teenage freedom did slip
through my out stretched hand as I tried to hold
all I was supposed to be and believe.
Still, I smile when I see a Lumina.
The full front seat left blushing memories.
The parking lots and dirt roads were witness
as my innocence slowly slipped away
on those long nights of teenage freedom.
I've been trying to get into writing more poetry lately since I haven't been doing as much since the semester ended. I have another poetry writing class this coming semester so I'm trying to get back into a writing state of mind. It's been difficult because I haven't had inspiration. Tonight however my mind traveled back to my days as a teenager as I fell in love for the first time. This is definitely not a poem I want my parents to read. lol. Hope you enjoy though. =)

Loneliness of Perfection
Cross the worn path and fall
Into the deep woods of alone
Where unbroken crisp snow
Is still pristine and deer gaze silently.
Dip your fingers into the iciness
Of alone and perfect
Feel them go numb,
See them go red,
like the swollen eyes
Of the girl you left behind
The night you decided
She followed the worn path too far.
Hey! Brand spankin' new poem! Just wrote it minutes ago. I really like it. =) That's why I'm sharing it. Enjoy. ~T

Enter Autumn
Enter Autumn
Autumn breaks the crisping shallows of leaves.
Autumn lets the rain pour down from the dark skies.
Autumn brings glowing pumpkins onto the porch.
Autumn lets the wind blow her hair around with cool fingers.
Autumn braces for Winter.
Winter comes smiling with white chattering teeth.
The two lovingly embrace.
Autumn leaves.
Sorry I haven't been posting poems as much this last month. I've been busy with school and other stuff. Here is one of my newer poems. I'm in the process of creating my first chapbook of poetry. It's required for my poetry writing class I'm in. It's very neat though and I'm excited about it. Feel free to leave a comment about this poem or if you're interested in having a copy of my chapbook that I'm creating. It will contain poems I've written this semester. ~T

It's Only Natural
Sapiens: Cell
by cell we form
Minds searching for so much more
A creavolution
Sweet-n-low: Diabetes sucks
Like sweet tea in the summer
Sip, sip, sip away
Sunscreen: Level of degree
Skin that cringes in the heat
Welcome the aloe
Silicone:
These bouncing beauties
They never droop in tight tees
Jiggle, jiggle, woah!
Skyscrapers: We build them up high
Reaching,
reaching for the sky
Down below, is full
This is my latest poem I wrote for my workshops in my poetry writing class this semester. My classmates didn't quite grasp the concept of the poem but they were close. I got the idea from reading an article about people saying man made stuff wasn't natural. The writer of the article went on to explain that technically everything that evolves and forms through this world is natural and as humans we cause things to form just as a rain drop falling into the soil causes things to grow and thus all things are natural even if they seem unnatural because they are man made. My poem is pointing out how these things that seem unnatural are in fact natural responses from us humans to compensate for something we find is a problem. i.e. sugar being bad for us so we create "unnatural" sweetener to try to fix that problem. We get sun burned by the suns rays, so we create sun screen to use. We find our bodies lacking some how, so we create a product and procedure to fix it. We run out of room to build enough buildings to house people, so we build the buildings up. I couldn't understand why my classmates couldn't understand how my poem conveys this... They did however seem to all really like it despite not quite understanding it, so I don't think I'm going to be editing it. Please leave comments if you think differently. Thanks! ~T

Had to write a place poem for my poetry writing class this week. This is what I came up with. It's short and simple but I like it. :) ~T

I Felt a Funeral in my Brain by Emily Dickinson
So today is the anniversary of the terrorist attack on America. 9/11/01. I'll just say, Never Forget.
Anyways, yesterday in my poetry class my teacher brought this Emily Dickinson poem up. I have read it before and liked it but didn't realize how much I liked it until when she started writing it that I found that I could remember most of the words. Anyways, so I thought I'd share it here on this sad day. Enjoy. ~T
I felt a funeral in my brain,
And mourners, to and fro,
Kept treading, treading, till it seemed
That sense was breaking through.
And when they all were seated,
A service like a drum
Kept beating, beating, till I thought
My mind was going numb.
And then I heard them lift a box,
And creak across my soul
With those same boots of lead,
Then space began to toll
As all the heavens were a bell,
And Being but an ear,
And I and silence some strange race,
Wrecked, solitary, here.
And then a plank in reason, broke,
And I dropped down and down--
And hit a world at every plunge,
And finished knowing--then--
