To Hug a Bear

Twas that frightful night,

Twas all alone,

The wind was howling,

The moon shone.

She came running, wild.

Wheat hair did flow.

Stars twinkled in blue

Eyes that fear did know.

Her hammering heart was

Ready to burst.

The wild bear behind her

Sought blood for thirst.

As she tripped and fell,

She heard a fierce growl.

She steeled her heart for death,

Was ready for foul.

But to her surprise another

Bear did appear.

He fought so valiantly,

She had to cheer.

As the first bear did

Sink to death,

She suddenly realized

What she was left with.

She jumped, ready to spring

But tripped by her feet.

The bear was upon her

And their eyes did meet.

The kindness she saw

Confused her so.

He nuzzled at her hand,

Her eyes like a doe.

She reached out playfully and

Poked his nose.

A hearty growl shook the ground,

echoing through her toes.

A giggle escaped her lips,

Floated like stars.

The moon reflected

Wary as Mars.

Were they friends,

Bear and doe?

Or just wild?

Only they know.

My friend asked me to write a poem for him and this is what I came up with. It was fun. =) ~T
